Overview

The ERCP Basic Training Course is intended for endoscopists at the beginning of their ERCP career. The two-day course—based in the University College Hospital, London and led by Dr George Webster and Dr Martin James—combines live cases, clinical discussion and hands-on training. The scientific programme will cover four key subject areas: Basic Cannulation, Stricture Management, Stone Management and Management of Complications. The course content will be delivered by Dr George Webster, Dr Martin James and local faculty together with visiting faculty from the European Endoscopy Training Centre, Gemeilli Hospital, Rome (Dr. Ivo Boskoski).

Application Criteria

Interested applicants should submit a CV, including ERCP and other endoscopic experience to date, career ambitions and suitability for selection. Please submit your application to Dr. George Webster (george.webster@uclh.nhs.uk), Dr. Martin W James (Martin.James@nuh.nhs.uk) and Stephen Conway (stephen.conway@cookmedical.com) by the Friday 9th September 2016. Note: a maximum of 8 places are available for this course.

Applicants should be at the beginning of their ERCP career. No practical ERCP experience is required but applicants with previous experience should not exceed 100 cases.

Training in diagnostic and therapeutic ERCP should only be sought by individuals with interest and training in the treatment of hepatopancreaticobiliary disease. Applications should include a supporting recommendation from the applicants’ clinical supervisor.

Applications will be considered from trainees practicing within gastroenterology or GI surgery training programs within the UK and Ireland.
